Police arrest man on Hayden Rowe after he allegedly assaults officers

by | Sep 2, 2020 | News, Police & Fire

Hopkinton police made an arrest on Hayden Rowe Street on Tuesday after a man allegedly assaulted three officers and was found to be in possession of narcotics.

Wayne Harnois, a 38-year-old who has no fixed address, had called police to complain about a disturbance, Chief Joseph Bennett told the Metrowest Daily News. Bennett said the officers who answered the call at 19 Hayden Rowe Street determined Harnois was under the influence of something and called for an ambulance, and that’s when Harnois became confrontational, punching and elbowing the officers.

“It was a good scuffle,” Bennett said. “The officers are doing good, they have some bumps and bruises. No one had to seek treatment and they all remained working.”

A search of Harnois turned up amphetamines, the report indicates.

He was charged with three counts of assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct and possession of amphetamines. He was due to be arraigned in Framingham District Court later Tuesday.
