Road work at Wood and West Main will force detour Wednesday; downtown work continues

by | Sep 8, 2020 | News

The Water Department will be doing work at the intersection of Wood Street and West Main Street on Wednesday, starting at 8 a.m., the department announced. The westbound lane of West Main Street at the lights will be closed, with traffic routed down Wood Street and up Elm Street to return to West Main at Lumber Street Extension.

Additionally, there will continue to be work on and around Main Street in the downtown area as Eversource ties in its new gas line (put in place last year) with side streets, businesses and residences. On Tuesday a crew dug up the road at the corner of Main Street and Cedar Street, next to Hopkinton Drug. According to Department of Public Works director John Westerling, this work is expected to continue at various locations in the downtown area until the construction winter moratorium goes into effect on Nov. 15.
