Senior Snippets, June 17 edition

The Hopkinton Senior Center is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. For a more extensive listing of programs and services, including lunch program menus, as well as a newsletter, check hopkintonseniorcenter.com. Anyone with questions can call 508-497-9730. The Senior Center also has a Facebook page that provides updates on resources, programs and events.

History of Dolls
Thursday, June 18, 1 p.m.
Janice McIntyre of Jenny Baby’s Doll Hospital will give a presentation on the history of dolls from the mid 1800s through the 1960s. The program will discuss the way dolls were made and how that process changes over time, with antique dolls on display. Guests are welcome to bring their own special dolls to share with everyone following the presentation.

Movement Therapy with BollyX
Monday, June 22, 1 p.m.
This movement class features BolllyX, a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program set to high-energy music. It places an emphasis on participants feeling good in their body versus performing and doing choreography.

Sound Bath
Wednesday, June 24, 2:15 p.m.
In this magical and relaxing hour, Crystal Lee will lead participants in experiencing the sound waves from crystal bowls. They are meant to synchronize brain wave frequencies, fostering deep relaxation and a tranquil mind, which may ease anxiety, manage stress and support a balanced mood. Attendees should bring a yoga mat, pillow and blanket, and may sit or lie down for this session. Advance registration is required, as space is limited.

Felted Hummingbird with Pop Up Art School
Thursday, June 25, 1-2:30 p.m.
Participants will learn the art of two-dimensional needle felting in this hands-on class in partnership with Pop Up Art School. The workshop offers a relaxed approach to exploring fiber art as crafters create a hummingbird and flower scene. Instruction includes the basic skills of needle felting. Registration is required, as space is limited. This program is supported by a grant from the Hopkinton Cultural Council.
