Senior Snippets, Nov. 9 edition

The Hopkinton Senior Center is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. For a more extensive listing of programs and services, including lunch program menus, as well as a newsletter, check hopkintonseniorcenter.com. Anyone with questions can call 508-497-9730. The Senior Center also has a Facebook page that provides updates on resources, programs and events.

Transportation for seniors
The Senior Center offers transportation to and from the center as well as local shopping Tuesdays through Fridays for Hopkinton residents. Those looking for transportation for medical appointments or essential shopping should call to learn about transportation options.

Friends of the Senior Center annual holiday sale
Friday, Nov. 18, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 19, 9 a.m.-noon
Silent auction items will be available for bidding from Nov. 1 until noontime on Nov. 19. The sale will include baked goods, holiday decor items, handmade goods and much more. Proceeds from this event go to the Friends of Hopkinton Seniors, which helps support nutrition, transportation and other programming needs for the Senior Center.

Holiday Greens with the Hopkinton Garden Club
Monday, Nov. 21, 10-11:30 a.m.
Members of the Hopkinton Garden Club will guide participants in a fun floral design project using a variety of holiday greens and flowers to make unique holiday decorations to take home. This program is free, but advance registration required, as space is limited.

TED Talks
Monday, Nov. 28, 12:30 p.m.
Attendees — in-person or virtual — will view a short video followed by a lively group discussion. The sessions cover a wide range of topics, so each meeting is unique. This program is free. Register by calling the Senior Center.

Walking Tour of Ljubljana, The Capital of Slovenia
Wednesday, Nov. 30, 10-11 a.m.
Participants will embark on a virtual guided tour of the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana. This is one of the smallest European capitals, with only 300,000 inhabitants. But many young students from all around the world visit to study and learn about the rich history and diverse heritage. Known for its vibrant city life, Ljubljana is excellent for creativity and contemporary art. Call the Senior Center for the Zoom link.
