Sports Roundup: HHS field hockey falls in 2OT

by | Nov 10, 2025 | Featured: Sports, Sports

The Hopkinton High School field hockey team’s magical run in the state tournament came to an end Monday with a 2-1 double-overtime loss to host Franklin.

The 10th-seeded Hillers forced OT when they were given a penalty corner as time expired in regulation. Ella Fowler took the pass at the top and slammed a low shot that found the back of the net. It was Hopkinton’s first shot on goal all game, and the first tally allowed by Franklin in the postseason.

In the second OT, Franklin freshman Cade Taccini was tripped up by a defender’s stick going to the goal and was awarded a penalty stroke. Taccini lifted a shot high into the back left side of the goal to send the Panthers to the semifinals.

Second-seeded Franklin scored its first goal midway through the second quarter, tipping in a shot after a penalty corner.

Hopkinton, which went to OT in all three of its tournament games, ends its season with a record of 9-7-5.
