Superintendent finalist withdraws, 2 remain

by | Mar 20, 2025 | Education, Featured: Education

According to a post on the Hopkinton Public Schools website, one of the three finalists for Hopkinton superintendent announced Wednesday night no longer is in the running.

School Committee chair Nancy Cavanaugh posted that Evan Bishop, principal at Hopkinton High School, and Mark McLaughlin, superintendent of South Hadley School District, are the two finalists.

“A third candidate who had initially been selected has decided to withdraw from the search at this time,” Cavanaugh wrote.

The third candidate was Ross Mulkerin, director of finance and operations for the Nashoba Regional School District.

Resumes for the finalists are available at the district website.

“Next week, there will be separate opportunities for staff and the community to meet with each of the candidates and to provide feedback,” Cavanaugh wrote. “There will be more information forthcoming on the schedule of events, but the School Committee anticipates selecting a Superintendent of Schools on April 3, with a start date of July 1, 2025.”

Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh is retiring June 30.
