Kenneth Mick

Kenneth M. Mick Sr., 82, of Hopkinton and formerly of Central Pennsylvania, went to be with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 4. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Betty, his daughters, Debra Bianchi (Steve), Elisabeth Felty (Shaun), Jenifer Mick, and Cindy-Lou Brock (Fred), and his son, Kenneth M. Mick Jr. (Beth), 24 grandchildren and a few great-grandchildren.

He was born in New Gretna, New Jersey, on Nov. 21, 1938, and moved to Newark, New Jersey, at an early age. Every year from the time he was 6 he spent his summers in New Gretna with his beloved grandfather, enjoying the town and the bay.

Ken met Betty while both attended Columbia International University (Columbia Bible College). He furthered his education by receiving a Master of Divinity from Reformed Episcopal Seminary in 1967. It was the desire of Ken’s life to actively serve Christ. After ministering at a rescue mission, Ken served in pastoral ministry at six churches.

Ken and Betty enjoyed traveling to see all their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially had fun working in his garden and spending time near the ocean, crabbing and fishing. He had a twinkle in his eye before expressing his humor. And he loved eating good food.

Ken truly lived his favorite verse, Philippians 1:21, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

He lived a life filled with kindness and integrity, loving all and loved by all. He could sit on a bench and strike up a conversation with anyone and share his heart.

There will be a memorial service sometime next year when it is easier to travel. In his memory, in lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be sent to Camp Susque, 47 Susque Camp Road, Trout Run, PA 17771.
