Flu vaccine documentation deadline extended

by | Dec 29, 2020 | Education

Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh emailed the schools community Tuesday with an update regarding Massachusetts’ new requirement that all students must show proof of vaccination for influenza immunization. The deadline — originally Dec. 31 — recently was extended to Feb. 28 by the state.

Only those with a medical or religious exemption are excused from the requirement.

Wrote Cavanaugh: “Your school nurses would appreciate children getting the flu vaccine as soon as possible so that the nurses can complete their paperwork prior to February 28, 2021. Please send an email to or share a hard copy of flu vaccine administration with your child’s school nurse. … We appreciate families working with us on this important public health initiative.”
