Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
Hopkinton health director Shaun McAuliffe, during his update to the Select Board on Tuesday, delivered some good news and bad news, noting a high number of residents have been vaccinated for COVID-19 but cautioning that the town is in the midst of a surge that has its positivity rate above the state average, and individuals 19 and under have been the hardest-hit group.
In other Select Board news, six Girl Scouts were honored for the their award-winning community projects, Start Line Brewing’s outdoor expansion was approved, and an Open Meeting Law complaint related to the Main Street Corridor Project was discussed.
This week’s Police Log includes three arrests along with reports of an egged house, a vandalized truck, and cars racing on Clinton Street.
The latest edition of Senior Snippets includes a variety of programs, including memory tips, a musical baseball show, and a presentation about first ladies and fashion.
The organization Communities Responding to Extreme Weather (CREW) will host a one-hour Zoom meeting tonight (6:30) to discuss the impacts of climate change on the upper parts of the Charles River watershed, which includes Hopkinton and a dozen other towns. Town meetings tonight include the Housing Authority (6) and Growth Study Committee (7). The Hopkinton Republican Town Caucus is Thursday at 7 p.m. It was originally publicized as taking place Wednesday, but that was incorrect.
