Greyhound Friends, the nonprofit greyhound adoption shelter located on Saddle Hill Road, announced that it added three new board members at its recent annual meeting. Paul Curley of Sterling, Samantha Dexter of Milford and Michael Simon of Holliston joined the board of directors last month.
“Our new directors bring a range of skills and talents to our board, as well as an infusion of new energy,” said board president Cathy DeNorscia. “We also acknowledge and appreciate the dedicated service of two directors who completed their terms this spring, Peter M. Bloom and Dr. Rena Schindler.”
The organization also announced that it will hold its spring open house on Saturday, June 5, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Current and past greyhound adopters, supporters and friends, including Hopkinton neighbors, are warmly invited to attend. The event is free and open to the general public and will be held outdoors, with very limited indoor access. Masks are required and distancing is requested whenever possible. The day’s activities will include a remembrance ceremony, silent auction, vendors, refreshments, music, and visits with adoptable dogs.
“Greyhound Friends is eager to welcome back our supporters, adopters and volunteers after a most challenging year,” said executive director Terri Shepard. “We have continued our adoption and advocacy work through the entire pandemic, working with very limited resources. During this time we have renewed ties and formed new collaborations with other shelters and organizations helping dogs, both locally and abroad. Now that reopening has gradually begun, we look forward to expanding our public outreach, volunteer opportunities, and adoptions of sighthounds as well as other dogs in need of good homes.”
