Hopkinton Today: Tuesday, June 15

by | Jun 15, 2021 | Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.

To celebrate its 10th anniversary of support to the local library, the Hopkinton Public Library Foundation (HPLF) is donating $10,000 to expand library borrowing capabilities by launching a “library of things” scheduled to open this fall.

“Quality over quantity” has been the motto of the Hopkinton High School girls tennis team this spring. In the program’s first season since 2019, the Hillers have just eight players on the team, including six returners and two newcomers. But that has not stopped HHS from ranking among the top teams in the Tri-Valley League.

This week’s edition of Senior Snippets includes information on transportation options, exercise classes and other programs at the Senior Center, which is slowly reopening to in-person activities.

Town meetings tonight include the Select Board (6), Commissioners of Trust Funds (6), Design Review Board (7) and Historical Commission (7).

Photo of the Day: Last week, the six members of Hopkinton Girl Scout Troop 72975 bridged from the ambassador to adult level of Girl Scouts. Now 2021 graduates of Hopkinton High School, all of the girls began Girl Scouts in kindergarten and developed leadership skills through community service and projects. Pictured are (from left) Julianna Lucas, Holly Burns, Megan Murchie, Cate Barry, Ellora Hoyt and Sammy Altman. Hoyt, one of the pioneering young women in the integrated Scout program, earned her Eagle Scout Achievement, while the rest of the girls received their Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouts.
