Schools Notebook: Women’s Club honors grads; PolyArts awards scholarship; Keefe Tech recognizes locals

The Hopkinton Women’s Club recently announced its scholarship winners. This year’s recipients are Riley Delaney, Aditya Dutta, Alexander Fomin, Nicholas Igartua, Alannah Miller, Megan Murchie, Charlie Nealon, Lucas Nealon, Courtney Olafsen, Mirabella Paolucci, Elana Regan, Eleri Schutte, Geneva Sganga, Alopa Waje and Mohammad Zaidi. Also, Catharine Barry received the Mary McDonough Community Service Award.

The Hopkinton Women’s Club has awarded almost $300,000 in scholarships over the past two decades to students at Hopkinton High School.

PolyArts awards scholarship

Despite not holding the Hopkinton PolyArts festival last year, PolyArts organizers committed to the annual scholarship for 2021, with help from an anonymous supporter. This year’s winner is Hopkinton High School graduate Tony Weissinger.

An Eagle Scout and a member of National Honor Society, the Northeastern-bound Weissinger is very involved in local and regional theater and musical productions. His longterm goal is to someday operate his own nonprofit theater, bridging generations together. …

Graduating HHS student Alopa Waje received a $250 scholarship from VHS Learning, a nonprofit international college scholarship program. Waje was selected for making a video about the skills she learned from online learning and how those skills will help in college or her career.

Locals shine at Keefe Tech

Keefe Regional Technical School recently announced its Term 3 honor roll, and it includes a number of Hopkinton residents. Senior Gabrielle Buentello earned high honors, while honors went to juniors Jeynelis Gomez, Evan Larson and Jake Shepard, sophomores Ayden Paglicco and Nicholas Souza, and freshmen Da-Neil Anderson, Bennett Kazanjian and Sean Miniman. …

Jonathan Bouvier was named to the high honors list for the spring semester at Pomfret School, a college preparatory school in Connecticut.
