Vladimir Putin: Corrupt, Competent, Environmentalist and the Coming Cold War?
Friday, Aug. 6, 12:30 p.m. (Zoom)
This presentation is a look at the career of Vladimir Putin, as an autocrat who is corrupt, competent and an environmentalist. It includes an examination of the policies and actions that could lead to a new Cold War. Who would believe that Russia could be the leading food producer in the world in the future? But that is a real possibility. It is one of the results of Putin’s competence. Presenter Henry Quinlan has been involved with the former Soviet Union and Russia since 1986 and has made more than 60 trips. His last trip was in 2018. He lived in Moscow from 1990-95 and witnessed the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Wildlife in Your Backyard
Friday, Aug. 13, 12:30 p.m. (Zoom)
From dragonflies and butterflies to birds and mammals, a wide variety of animals may visit area backyards. Which animals are most likely to be seen in fall and winter? Which animals are seen more often in spring and summer? Find out more about our local wildlife, as well as occasional visitors, and what brings them to our neighborhoods. Presenter Joy Marzolf takes participants on a beautiful virtual tour of this amazing country. Prior to founding her company, The Joys of Nature, she was a naturalist and educator at Mass Audubon’s Broadmoor Wildlife Sanctuary.
