Hopkinton Today: Thursday, Oct. 21

by | Oct 21, 2021 | Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.

The Conservation Commission met for nearly four hours Tuesday night and approved modifications to projects previously before the commission, including a lot on the Connelly Farms project as well as and the Leonard Street development.

The Hopkinton Health Department is offering Pfizer COVID-19 booster shots and high-dose flu vaccines (ages 65-plus) to those who are eligible. This clinic, to be held Thursday, Oct. 28, from 2-5 p.m., is open to the town but will be hosted at the Senior Center to better assist and target the town’s seniors.

The town announced Tuesday that the installation of the first electric manhole vault as part of the Main Street Corridor Project was completed ahead of schedule, and work on the second manhole will begin either on Wednesday or Thursday. This work will take place between Mt. Auburn Street and Mayhew Street and is expected to take 3-5 days to complete.

The latest edition of the Police Log includes five arrests along with multiple reports of car break-ins, cars racing in the State Park, and a deer head in a backyard.

Town meetings tonight include the School Committee (7) and Community Preservation Committee (7). There’s also a cable television license renewal proceeding at 6 p.m.

Photo of the Day: The Hopkinton Women’s Club, represented by Nan Proulx (left) and Nancy Tarsi (right) donated vocabulary development photo card kits in 14 languages to the Hopkinton Public Library. Children’s librarian Andrea Conboy (center) accepted the donation.
