Patricia Precobb

Patricia Precobb, 81, of Chelmsford, a devoted wife, mother and sister, died Jan. 4 at the Advinia Nursing Home in Wilmington.

She was married to William J. Precobb, with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 19, 2021.

Born in Spokane, Washington, she was the daughter of the late Alvin L. Hurley and Marjorie Adams.

She graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School with the class of 1958. Patricia furthered her education by attending Anna Maria College and graduated with a bachelor’s in education, then graduating from Fitchburg State with her master’s in education.

Patricia owned and operated Therapeutic Tutors Nashoba Valley Counseling. She taught in the Chelmsford and Needham School Systems. Patricia also was a part-time teacher at Don Bosco Technical High School in Boston, and was a special project manager for Roxbury Community College.

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts gave Patricia a citation for her outstanding work as past president of the board of the Paul Center for disabled children located in Chelmsford. She was a past fundraiser for the Chelmsford Little League. She was an avid squash player.

Besides her husband, William, Patricia is survived by son John Precobb of Hopkinton, daughter Carol and husband Dr. Brian Newman of Alamo, California, brother James Hurley of Secaucus, New Jersey three grandchildren, Katarina Precobb, Cailin Newman and Ryan Newman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Alvin L. Hurley, the late Mary Mahoney, and the late Ann M. Hurley.

Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7 p.m. A funeral will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex Street, Chelmsford, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, 25 North Road, Chelmsford. For the safety of all, everyone is kindly asked to wear a mask while attending Patricia’s services. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.

Memorials may be made in Patricia’s name to The Paul Center, 38 Concord Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
