James Corsi

James (Jim) Bernard Corsi, age 60, of Bellingham, died peacefully from cancer at home surrounded by his loved ones on Jan. 4. He was born in Newton on Sept. 9, 1961, the son of Bernard (deceased) and Dorothy Corsi of Ashland. He was the beloved father to Julianne and husband Doug Garabedian, Mitch, Jenna and Joey Corsi. He was the devoted brother of Michael Corsi, John Corsi, Cynthia Athy and husband Paul, and Natalie Doyle and husband Peter, and the fun-loving uncle to Ali, Max, Maddie, Nick, Molly, Abby, Sam, PJ, Colleen, Sabrina, Jack and Zack. He remained a loving friend to his ex-wife, Diane, and Joey’s mom, Jill. His dedicated partner, Keena, remained faithfully by his side.

Jim graduated from Newton North High School in 1979 and went on to attend Saint Leo University before getting drafted by the New York Yankees in the 25th round of the 1982 Major League Baseball draft. During his 10-year career, he played for the Athletics, Astros, Marlins, Orioles and Red Sox. Jim won a World Series ring and two pennant rings with the Oakland Athletics. As a Boston native, it was a childhood dream of his to play for the Red Sox.

After his career, Jim worked as a studio analyst for Red Sox coverage for local networks for a few years and started a construction company, Corsi Realty, with his mother and brother, John. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, making people laugh and going to his children’s and nephew’s sporting events. He lived life with an infectious love for baseball, humor and most importantly, family. Anyone who crossed his path felt his sincerity and immediately felt like a friend. His presence will be deeply missed.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Jan. 9, from 2-8 p.m. at Faith Community Church of Hopkinton, 146 East Main Street, Hopkinton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 10, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Cecilia’s Parish, 54 Esty Street, Ashland, with burial to follow in Wildwood Cemetery in Ashland. Face masks are required at all services.
