Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.

The Upper Charles Trail Committee has scheduled a meeting for Wednesday at 11 a.m. to “consider and vote whether to proceed with the committee’s request to the Community Preservation Committee for funding at the Annual Town Meeting for Campus Connector Segments 5 and 6.” The meeting will take place hours before the town hosts a public workshop (5-8 p.m.) for residents to ask questions and receive information about the committee’s work to extend the Upper Charles Trail from Milford to Ashland.

Rachel Gilbreath thought she had hung up her marathon shoes for good, but she’s putting them back on and running Boston this month thanks to a challenge issued by her husband, Keith.

Sandra Gittlen started running at the age of 41 while struggling with a rare autoimmune disease. When she decided to participate in the Boston Marathon, Gittlen discovered she could combine exercise with her passion for animal advocacy and raise money for Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton.

Registration is open for the 34th annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk, which is scheduled for Oct. 2. The Jimmy Fund Walk, which raises money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, features four distances, from the full marathon (starting in Hopkinton) to a 5K.

Town meetings tonight include the Commissioners of Trust Funds (5:30), Select Board (6), Design Review Board (6:30) and Conservation Commission (7).
