A former Hopkinton resident was among the casualties of a fire that tore through a multi-family home in Worcester on May 14. Christopher Lozeau died on his 53rd birthday.

According to his obituary, a celebration of life Mass will be held June 25 at Hopkinton’s St. John the Evangelist Church for Lozeau, who leaves two sons, Hopkinton residents Ben and Sam Lozeau.

Officials initially reported that two people died and three were hurt, but two more bodies were found in the wreckage on Gage Street last Monday, when K-9 units were called in to help with the search.

It took more than two hours to contain the fire in the the three-story building, which had six apartments. About 70 firefighters worked on the blaze, and none suffered injuries.

“I send my deepest sympathies to the families of the victims,” Worcester Mayor Joseph Petty said in a statement. “Tragedies such as this affect so many lives and our city will no doubt come together to support those who are suffering from such an unimaginable loss.”

Police Chief Steven M. Sargent said in a statement: “I would like to express my sincere condolences to the families that have lost loved ones [May 14]. I appreciate the efforts of all the first responders that worked so hard to prevent further loss of life, including the Auburn Police Department who deployed their drone to assist us. We are committed to working closely with the Fire Department and our law enforcement partners to investigate the cause of the fire.”
