Hopkinton Today: Tuesday, June 28

by | Jun 28, 2022 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.

For the first time ever, a team from Hopkins Elementary School won the Hurvitz Cup State Scholastic Team Championship, a chess competition run by the Massachusetts Chess Association. One of the team members, Dhairya Mehta, also recently took second place at Massachusetts’ Barry S. Spiegel Cup.

Water-Sewer Department Manager Eric Carty announced Monday morning that the water pump motor that ceased functioning over the weekend has been repaired and the well is back on line. As such, the town has reverted to its normal state of required water use restrictions — and with very little rain in the forecast, the department is stressing that residents adhere to the restrictions.

This week’s Library Corner includes a schedule update along with information on the Summer Reading Program and some upcoming presentations.

Town meetings tonight include the Conservation Commission (7).

Photo of the Day: A recently restored historic document declaring the consecration of the St. Paul’s building in 1899 was blessed and installed at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Hopkinton during a St. Paul’s Feast Day celebration on June 26. Pictured are Reverend Mary Rosendale (left) priest-in-charge, and Laurie LaBrecque, senior warden. St. Paul’s has been a part of the Hopkinton community for 287 years, and currently is located at 61 Wood Street.
