Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.
Mike Whalen’s goal is simple: “Fixing the cemeteries one stone at a time,” he said. A longtime volunteer and member of veterans committees in town, Whalen has been mending broken and crooked headstones at the town’s cemeteries for some time.
At its meeting on Wednesday, the Parks & Recreation Commission discussed the Fruit Street fields — which are back in use after getting new turf — Community Preservation Committee projects, Sandy Beach and fall programming.
Matt Anderson, a Hopkinton High School alumnus who served as the baseball team’s pitching coach since 2017, was named head coach, the school announced this week.
This week’s Baypath Adoptable Animal is Bootsey, a 2-year-old bloodhound/Great Dane who is a “gentle giant” and an “adorable goofball.”
Our latest Business Profile highlights Southwick’s Zoo and its Festival of Illumination, which returns for its second year from Sept. 1-Dec. 31 with original artistic creations and a new theme, “Once Upon a Time.”
