by | Mar 14, 2023 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.

The town announced that due to the impending winter storm, Town Hall, the Hopkinton Public Library, the Senior Center and municipal offices will be physically closed. All Hopkinton public schools will follow an early release schedule.

Repair cafes are becoming increasingly popular in Massachusetts, and Hopkinton is no exception. On April 1, the Hopkinton Lions Club and Hopkinton Senior Center will host the second annual Repair Cafe at the Senior Center.

The Hopkinton Republican Town Committee and Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee have set dates for their nominating caucuses. The purpose of the meetings is to nominate and endorse candidates for the Annual Town Election on May 15.

The Friends of Whitehall annual meeting will be held Wednesday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at the Sanctuary at Woodville. The guest speaker will be Richard Trubiano, supervisor of the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) headquarters in Hopkinton.

In this week’s Professional Insights, Edward Jones financial advisor Mark Freeman looks at a “backdoor Roth IRA,” a possible retirement account strategy for high-income earners.

Town meetings tonight include the Select Board (6), School Committee (6), Commissioners of Trust Funds (6), Tax Relief Committee (6:45) and Conservation Commission (7).

Photo of the Day: Barriers were installed on West Main Street during the day Monday by the town’s Department of Public Works. The goal is to cut down on the number of accidents from people leaving the gas station there by eliminating the left-hand turn.
