Hopkinton Today: Friday, July 28

by | Jul 28, 2023 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Due to the weather forecast of severe thunderstorms and a possible isolated tornado, Thursday night’s walk at the Hughes Farm Trail was postponed, the Hopkinton Trails Club announced. A heat advisory also is in effect from 11 a.m. Thursday through Saturday for much of the state.

Health Department Director Shaun McAuliffe at Monday night’s Board of Health meeting addressed resident concerns about water quality at the YMCA following last month’s Board of Health meeting that noted the identification of PFAS in a secondary well.

The upper and main beaches at Hopkinton State Park remain closed after being deemed unsafe for swimming due to high bacteria counts, the state’s Department of Conservation and Recreation announced.
