Hopkinton Today: Thursday, Sept. 14

by | Sep 14, 2023 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

The elderly man who disappeared from the Golden Pond assisted living facility on Sunday night and was rescued Tuesday morning never strayed that far from the grounds, interim Hopkinton Fire Chief Gary Daugherty believes, but because he was in a “very deep, thick area of brush and mud,” he was difficult to locate.

According to an old adage, a person can never completely understand another until walking in their shoes. Project Empathy takes that concept further, using theater as a vehicle for sharing personal experiences.

The Conservation Commission at its meeting Tuesday night reviewed violations incurred by several ongoing development projects, including The Trails, Leonard Street and one off Blueberry Lane.

This week’s Police Log includes one arrest along with reports of a school bus stop safety issue, a person missing from the Senior Center turning up on a resident’s porch, and a breaking and entering on Hayden Rowe Street.

The Hopkinton High School boys golf team fell to Dover-Sherborn, 221-252, on Tuesday at Hopkinton Country Club, leaving the Hillers with a record of 2-2.

The Hopkinton High School field hockey team dropped its home opener to Norwood on Friday by a score of 5-2, and we have photos.

The Hopkinton Health Department announced two drive-through flu clinics in October, one for older adults and another for all ages, including schoolchildren.

Town meetings tonight include the Commissioners of Trust Funds (5) and Open Space Preservation Commission (7).
