by | Nov 7, 2023 | Featured: Sports, Sports

The Hopkinton High School field hockey team dropped a 2-1 decision to visiting Doherty on Tuesday afternoon in the Division 2 tournament.

Doherty led 1-0 at the half and 2-0 after Hannah Murray scored her second goal after a long rush upfield and a low hard shot with 38 seconds left in the third quarter. Hopkinton tried to mount at late comeback as Camille Perlov scored off her own rebound with 47 seconds left in the game, but the Hillers could not muster another shot on goal.

Hopkinton, the seventh seed in Division 2, sees its impressive season end with a record of 13-5-2. Doherty, the 10th seed, improves to 17-3-0 and will play Norwood in the quarterfinals on Friday.

The HHS girls volleyball team dropped an exciting 3-2 match to visiting North Quincy in the Division 2 Round of 16.

The teams split the first two sets, with North Quincy winning the opener, 25-20, and Hopkinton winning the second, 25-22. North Quincy took the third set in a close one, 26-24, but Hopkinton would not go down without a fight, capturing the fourth set, 25-19. The hard-fought fifth set went to the visitors by a score of 15-12.

Hopkinton, the seventh seed, finishes with a record of 14-6. North Quincy (18-4), the 10th seed, advances to play second-seeded Algonquin in the quarterfinals.
