by | Dec 8, 2023 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

The judge in the ongoing court case against former Hopkinton Police Deputy Chief John “Jay” Porter on Wednesday said he would file an order compelling the town to provide internal investigation records to him if he did not receive them by Jan. 9.

To our readers, as we close in on the end of another year, we’d like to take a moment to thank you for your support of our publication and let you know that we will continue to strive for the quality and integrity you expect from us.

Leading off this week’s Independent Thoughts, Chuck Joseph has given a number of talks about the history of Hopkinton. His latest talk should have more appeal to current residents, as he discusses how Hopkinton grew from a rural farming town to a thriving suburban community.

During its meeting Wednesday, the Parks & Recreation Sandy Beach Subcommittee discussed needs at Lake Maspenock and filled in new Parks & Rec Director Jon Lewitus about ongoing issues such as lack of oversight at the gate, equipment needing repairs, signage and safety concerns after hours.

The Hopkinton Public Schools winter concerts are set to start Dec. 11. All concerts are free and open to all.
