Jean Hope

Jean Marie Hope, 89, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22 at the Coleman House in Northborough. She was the beloved wife and best friend of Lee Hope, to whom she was married for 67 years.

Born in Glen Lyon, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Stanley F. and Lillian M. (Rutkoski) Lipski. She was educated in Glen Lyon and graduated from Newport High School in Wanamie, Pennsylvania, in 1952. She also graduated from Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. Following graduation, she worked as a registered nurse at Philadelphia General Hospital prior to staying home to raise her family.

Jean had been a resident of Hopkinton for many years and enjoyed cake decorating, baking and spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Theresa M. Goodwin of Upton, Larry Hope and wife Carol, Susan M. Pickering and husband David of Westborough, and Linda M. Hope of Westborough; four grandchildren, Dan Hope, Andrew Pickering and fiancée Amanda, Carson Hope and Matthew Pickering; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Herbert Lipski, and her sister, Norma Ressler.

Jean’s family extends their gratitude to the staffs of the Coleman House and Notre Dame hospice for their compassionate care.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main Street, Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Notre Dame Hospice, 555 Plantation Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
