Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

A Boston Marathon detail assignment six years ago for Hopkinton Fire Department Lt. John Krauss connected him with the Michael Lisnow Respite Center, forging a bond that inspired him and his wife to run the Boston Marathon in support of the center’s clients.

The Select Board at its meeting Tuesday night approved the hiring of a new police officer in a 4-0 vote and recognized three Eagle Scouts for their leadership projects.

Leading off Independent Thoughts, there have been a few business changes in town as winter fades away, including some new food offerings. Also, the Hopkinton Sustainable Green Committee is organizing the town-wide Yellow Bag Day cleanup April 6.

This week’s Police Log includes reports of a child being struck by a vehicle on Main Street (a follow-up call with the fire chief indicated the child was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure), an incident with a DoorDash driver, and an aggressive raccoon.

The latest Schools Notebook has information on a resident earning a Massachusetts Institute of Technology OMEGA scholarship for her work founding an intergenerational book club in Hopkinton.

Town meetings tonight include the School Committee (6:30) and Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee (6:30).
