After some discussion, the Select Board on Tuesday unanimously approved the permit for the July 4 Horribles Parade, weighing the participants’ right to free speech against the potential for satirical floats to inflame divisions in town.
The Select Board Tuesday night reluctantly voted to raise water rates by 40% but kept sewer rates flat for the upcoming fiscal year. The board also discussed the Center School reuse plan, delayed the deputy police chief hiring process and announced the four town manager finalists.
This week’s Police Log includes one arrest along with reports of Palestine-related graffiti at Hopkinton Country Club, an Amazon driver being assaulted and damage caused by party-crashers on Connelly Hill Road.
The Hopkinton Parks & Recreation Department, in collaboration with the Friends of Hopkinton Skate Park and the Hopkinton Freedom Team, is hosting a free Skateboard/BMX Jam at the Hopkinton Middle School outdoor basketball courts this Sunday, June 23, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Town meetings tonight include the School Committee (7).
Photo of the Day: Members of the Hopkinton Women’s Club gather to send information to local businesses for inclusion in the 2025 Community Register. The register is mailed free of charge to all Hopkinton homes, and proceeds benefit the HWC Scholarship Fund. In 2024 the HWC awarded over $13,000 in scholarships and awards to Hopkinton students.
