Carolyn Diane Schmidt

Carolyn Diane Schmidt, 81, of Hopkinton, passed away Jan. 26. She was the daughter of the late Doris (Elkins) and Adelbert Prosser. She was the wife of 52 years to Harold D. Schmidt of Hopkinton.

Carolyn was a graduate of Hopkinton High School and Boston University. Prior to her retirement, she was a physical education teacher for Hopkinton Public Schools. She was active with St. Paul’s Church in Hopkinton, took pleasure in gardening and loved animals.

She is survived by three children: Dana Rebecca Kalipolites and her husband, Gary; Robert David William and his wife, Heather; and Doris Marie Schmidt and her husband, Jay. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Zina Misurelli and her husband, Tony; Athena Kalipolites; Brandon William; Dylan William; Richard Schaefer and his wife, Elizabeth; Tanner Mullen and Kensey Mullen, and three great-grandchildren: Kyrah, Hannah and Montgomery. She is predeceased by her first husband, First Lt. David William, and a brother, James Prosser.

A memorial service took place on Jan. 30 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 61 Wood St., Hopkinton MA 01748. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton (ChesmoreFuneralHome.com).
