by | Apr 18, 2020 | Featured Front Page, News

Hopkinton had its first fatality from COVID-19 when a man in his 90s passed away earlier this month. The death was reported by the town on its Friday COVID-19 udpate.

According to Health Department director Shaun McAuliffe, the man, who was very active, suffered an injury from a fall and contracted COVID-19 while receiving treatment and rehabilitation outside of Hopkinton. He died at Milford Regional Medical Center.

Out of respect for the family, the Independent is not printing the man’s name.

As of midday Friday, the town reported 25 total confirmed COVID-19 cases, with eight active and 16 recoveries. However, there are likely to be more cases that have not been diagnosed.

Stay at home restrictions remain in place for the town and state.
