Hopkinton Garden Club cancels annual plant sale

by | May 5, 2020 | News

The Hopkinton Garden Club announced Tuesday that its annual plant sale has been canceled this year. The event traditionally is held the Saturday before Mother’s Day.

“We know many look forward to it as much as we do, and will we miss seeing you and chatting about our shared garden interests,” the club said in a press release. “However, with the spread of COVID-19, your safety and that of our members must come first. We’ll look forward to seeing you at our next opportunity to have a safe and fun event.

“Please continue to support our efforts by enjoying and enhancing your gardens. Be sure to include some native plants to help our pollinators as they work to maintain the fragile ecosystems required to grow our food and keep our planet healthier.”

Those interested in learning more about native plants can check out this webinar with Dan Jaffe (formerly of the Native Plant Trust).

The Hopkinton Garden Club (hopkintongardenclub.org), a nonprofit affiliate of The Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, still plans to work on its beautification projects around town. They include plantings at the corner of Main Street and Grove Street in the center of town, the Town Common, the Welcome to Hopkinton sign and the Hopkinton Public Library.
