‘Water-related issue,’ main activation could cause water discoloration

by | Feb 17, 2026 | Featured: News, News

Multiple events impacting the town’s water lines may result in isolated water discoloration, according to the Department of Public Works.

Water-Sewer Manager Jed Fenneuff informed residents on Tuesday that crews were responding to a “water-related issue” on Castle Hill Road. The water main on the road was temporarily shut down to complete necessary repairs.

Fenneuff warned that residents in the area would experience temporary losses in water pressure and possible discoloration once the water was restored.

In a separate notice, Fenneuff announced a scheduled activation of a water line on Hayden Rowe Street on Wednesday, which could result in water discoloration.

“We will be activating the newly installed water line to the Charleswood School located at 147 Hayden Rowe [Street],” he stated. “We anticipate that it may cause temporary discoloration in the direct vicinity of that location.”

Residents who experience discoloration can resolve the issue by flushing the cold water pipes in their homes. Doing so allows trapped sediments to be released.

Discolored water is safe to drink, but the town does not recommend using it for washing laundry.

For more information, visit the Water Department’s website or call 508-497-9765.
