Town: Main Street Corridor Project fully funded following approval of $3M grant

by | May 23, 2020 | News

Via a press release Friday, the town confirmed and added more details to what Town Manager Norman Khumalo stated at the May 6 Select Board meeting, that following approval of a $3 million MassWorks Infrastructure Program grant, the Main Street Corridor Project is fully funded.

According to the release, secretary of the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development Mike Kennealy, on behalf of the Baker-Polito Administration, approved the grant. With the April 30 approval by the Metropolitan Planning Organization of the $11,346,564 Transportation Improvement Program budget, the project is fully funded. Additional funding sources include town-appropriated funds and funds from a host community agreement.

“This is a project that, given where we are now, is going to be very important for the economic growth and development of not only Hopkinton but the MetroWest region,” Khumalo stated.

There were five project milestones met in the previous six weeks.

On April 7 the Select Board voted to adopt and execute the order of taking.

On April 28 the Select Board voted to approve the notices of taking to be mailed to all affected property owners.

On May 4 the order of taking was recorded in the Registry of Deeds.

On May 19 the Right of Way Certificate, the final step in the MassDOT Right-of-Way process before the project goes out to bid, was issued.

On May 21 notices of taking were mailed to all affected property owners.
