Edward Halloran

Edward Halloran

Edward L. Halloran, 81, of Hopkinton passed away at his home surrounded by his family on May 20, 2026. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Doris (Dexter) and Henry Halloran.

Ed dedicated more than 30 years of his life working as a car assembler at General Motors in Framingham and also proudly served as a member of the National Guard for seven years. Known throughout town as the “Old Pro Handyman,” he was a master of finished carpentry and could build any project handed to him. Ed was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Ed was an incredible athlete and devoted sports fan. He was an avid golfer and counted down the minutes to see and play with his buddies at the St. Linus Golf League at Pinecrest. He was a baseball and basketball star for Framingham High, and he never missed cheering for his Boston Celtics. Above all, Ed treasured time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He loved to spoil them, gladly breaking his own kids’ rules to make them happy and to annoy his kids (like purposely giving them chocolate on a new white rug). He was truly the best, most loving Grampy and Dad.

Edward is survived by three daughters, Deborah McBride and husband Stephen, Carly Halloran, and Jodie Baker and husband Ryan, all of Hopkinton. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Megan Urella, Gabriella and Jack Lubke, and Brody (“Bud”), Colbie, Austin and Riley Baker, and two great-grandchildren, Enya and Gianna Urella.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 27, from 1-5 p.m. at Hopkinton Country Club. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Massachusetts Special Olympics in honor of his grandson Bud.

Obituaries are submissions, typically from funeral homes, that are not subject to the same level of editorial oversight as the rest of the Hopkinton Independent. Obituaries may be edited for grammatical and factual mistakes and clarifications and shortened for space considerations.
