Arts Residency-Collins

Hopkinton High School junior Maya Collins’ art is all about detail. “Her works include painstaking detail, yet maintain a playful tone,” shared HHS visual arts teacher Kris Kellenberger. A National Honor Society student and member of the Hopkinton Center for the Arts ceramics community, Collins brings inspiration from architecture and construction processes into her art to create “unexpected structures from the world in miniature,” according to Kellenberger. Recent projects include a miniature dumpster full of take-out containers and a fruit stand with photo-realistic miniature fruit. “Maya’s work brings joy and encourages curiosity at every turn,” stated Kellenberger.

The Arts Residency, sponsored by realtor Alan Connell, is a regular Hopkinton Independent feature. Every other week, Hopkinton Independent staff selects an individual to highlight following consultation with leaders in the local arts community.
