ALL AGES PROGRAMS
Acrobatic Performance with Li Liu
Saturday, July 25, 2-2:45 p.m.
Li Liu will give a solo performance titled “Traditions of Chinese Acrobatics.” Her act includes feats such as hand balancing, plate spinning, ribbon dancing, diabolos and foot juggling. A limited number of volunteers will join the performer on stage to participate. Liu will discuss Chinese New Year rituals, teach some basic Chinese phrases and encourage audience members to think about what it might have been like to grow up in a different time and place. This program is funded by the Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library.
Movie Showing: ‘Hoppers’
Thursday, July 30, 5-7:30 p.m.
The Hopkinton Public Library will put on a screening of the Disney-Pixar animated film “Hoppers.” Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the movie will begin at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available while supplies last. The film is rated PG and has a runtime of 105 minutes. This event is open to all ages.
CHILDREN’S/YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS
Kids: Happy Houseplants with Tower Hill
Tuesday, July 28, 2-3 p.m.
This program is open to ages 7-11 and teaches the basics of plant care. Kids will decorate a terracotta pot and pot their own 3-inch houseplant. Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied at all times by a responsible person age 12 or older while visiting the library. Registration is required.
Teens: Kokedama with Tower Hill
Tuesday, July 28, 4-5 p.m.
A botanist from Tower Hill Botanic Garden will lead teens in learning about the Japanese Kokedama planting style. Participants will create their own miniature Kokedama display. This program is open to ages 12-18, and registration is required.
Anime Movie Nights
Wednesdays, July 29 and Aug. 12, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The library invites teens and tweens in grades 6-12 to showings of two anime movies this summer. Screenings include “The Legend of Hei” on July 29 and “The Wonderland” on Aug. 12. Snacks will be provided.
Special Pokémon Club: ‘Detective Pikachu’
Thursday, Aug. 6, 4-6 p.m.
This special session of the Lego & Pokémon Club will include a screening of the film “Detective Pikachu.”
