ADULT PROGRAMS

CreatorSpace Workshop: Punched Tin Candle Holder
Tuesday, Aug. 18, 6-7:30 p.m.
Learn how to create punched tin designs in this CreatorSpace program celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary. Participants will practice by punching heavy-duty tin foil then create a hurricane-style candle holder. This program is for ages 16 to adult. A signed CreatorSpace waiver is required to access this event. If the attendee is between the ages of 16 and 17, a parent or guardian must sign this waiver before the event starts. Registration is required through the library’s online calendar.

National Treasures Book Group
Tuesday, Aug. 25, 6:15-7:15 p.m.
The National Treasures book group will meet to discuss “So Big” by Edna Ferber. Books will be available for pickup at the circulation desk. Registration is optional.

CHILDREN’S/YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS

Unplugged Coding for Kids
Mondays, Aug. 10, 17 and 24, 3-4 p.m.
Kids entering Grades 2-4 can practice coding skills through unplugged games and activities. This program is led by Hopkinton High School students through the library’s Teen-Led Programs initiative. Registration is required.

Anime Movie Nights
Wednesday, Aug. 12, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The library invites teens and tweens in grades 6-12 to a showing of “The Wonderland” on Aug. 12. The film is unrated, with a runtime of 115 minutes. Refreshments will be provided while supplies last. Registration is required.

Paint with Julie
Thursday, Aug. 13, 4-5:30 p.m.
Kids ages 11-17 can create their own book stack painting with artist Julie Harrold. Registration is required.

America is Wild! Interactive Wildlife Adventure for Kids
Wednesday, Aug. 19, 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Wildlife ecologist Brad Timm will take kids in Grades 2-5 on a coast-to-coast journey all about animals of the United States. Attendees can participate in activities like Animal Olympics and Habitat Team Challenges. Registration is required. This program is funded by the Hopkinton Moms Group.

Drive-In Movie Showing: ‘Cars’
Saturday, Aug. 22, 2-4:30 p.m.
The Hopkinton Public Library invites children ages 2 and up for a craft and a movie with a special showing of Disney Pixar’s “Cars.” Doors open at 2 p.m. for children to decorate a cardboard box. At 2:30 p.m., they can “park” their cars to enjoy the movie. Cardboard boxes will be provided, so guests are asked to register. Refreshments will be available while supplies last. The film is rated G, with a runtime of 116 minutes.
