Main Street Corridor Project update: Final paving to continue next week

by | Aug 21, 2026 | News

Contractors are anticipated to complete final paving of Main Street including side streets, Town Hall and the fire station next week, according to the latest update from the town.

Professional project specialist Michelle Murdock stated in a follow-up email to the Independent on Friday that she was working to confirm what work was left, but that crews likely had not yet paved side streets within the project area. She also confirmed that miscellaneous work is on the docket for next week, along with additional sidewalk construction.

Line striping from the fire station to Ray Street will be scheduled for night work.

The eastbound detour on Main Street will continue as needed next week. Traffic will detour onto Pleasant Street, then Maple Street and finally onto Hayden Rowe Street. Drivers are asked to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and follow posted detour signs.

Weather and other existing conditions may change the projected work schedule. Detours or alternating traffic will be used as needed for project work. For the most up-to-date information, visit the town’s project website at hopkintonmainstreet.com.
