Writing the Nightmare: A Ship Called Sickness

This virtual presentation will feature 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction winner Daniel Kraus to celebrate the release of his new novel, “The Sixth Nik.”

CreatorSpace: Drop-in Drawing
Mondays, Sept. 14 and 21, 10 a.m.-noon
The CreatorSpace will be open to adult patrons who wish to drop in and draw. No registration is required.

Mondays, Sept. 14, 21 and 28 and Oct. 5, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library is offering this four-part workshop about the impacts of environment on human health. Material for study includes a variety of readings, podcasts and films. Topics include how health is impacted by air, water, food and neighborhood surroundings. The class involves group discussions and activities related to the materials. Participants are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible. Registration is required so information about the readings can be distributed each week.

Parent/Caregiver Strategic Plan Focus Group
Tuesday, Sept. 22, 7-9 p.m.
Parents and caregivers can join this virtual strategic focus group to help shape the future of youth services at the Hopkinton Public Library over the next five years. Registration is required.

CHILDREN’S/YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS

Play, Learn and Grow Play Group
Thursdays, Sept. 10, 17 and 24, 10-11 a.m.
This play group, let by Project ABC, will include free play as well as a circle time with stories, songs and rhymes. It is recommended for children ages 0-5 with a caregiver.

Homework Help Club
Thursday, Sept. 24, 4-5 p.m.
Students in Grades 3-6 are invited to gather in the Children’s Programming Room to do homework, projects and reading. Extra homework help will be provided by high school volunteers. Teens interested in volunteering can contact young adult librarian Jess Dyment (jdyment@hopkintonma.gov).

SCHEDULE UPDATES

The library’s study rooms will be closed for maintenance from Aug. 31-Sept. 9.

The library will be closed from Sept. 5-7 in observance of Labor Day.
