Carol Jones

Carol Margaret (Pentheny) Jones, 79, of Wilton, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at the Jack Byrne Center for Hospice Care in Lebanon, New Hampshire, on Sept. 8, 2026. Born on Jan. 2, 1947, in Framingham, Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Iris (James) Pentheny.

Carol was raised on Hayden Rowe Street in Hopkinton, and she graduated from Hopkinton High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Framingham State University. She spent her career caring for and teaching young children as a teacher, child care provider and homemaker.

Carol married Alan Jones in February 1968, and together they raised their family in Hopkinton. She loved gathering family and friends, especially for Thanksgiving and Fourth of July celebrations on Lumber Street. She enjoyed traveling with Alan all over the world and often spoke fondly about visiting her mother’s roots in Bristol, England.

Carol was an enthusiastic fan of Boston sports teams, and she and Alan had season tickets to the New England Revolution for many years. She also played on the Over the Hillers soccer team for more than 20 years and was active throughout the Hopkinton community. After retirement, they moved to Kissimmee, Florida, where she enjoyed frequent visits to Disney World. In 2021, she and Alan moved back north to Wilton, New Hampshire, to be closer to family. During her final eight months, she was lovingly cared for at Scott-Farrar Memory Care in Peterborough, New Hampshire. She also leaves behind her companion cat, Greyson.

Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Alan Jones; her daughter, Sharon Jones (Karen) of Lynn; her son, Jeffrey Jones (Kerri) and grandchildren, Evelyn Jones, Addison Jones and Cameron Jones of Wilton, New Hampshire; her brothers, Kenneth “Skip” Pentheny (Dorothy) of Marshfield and Christopher Pentheny of Hudson; her sisters, Susan Pentheny (Glenn) of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania, and Victoria Smith (Roy) of Uxbridge; and many extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations should go to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Michaud Funeral Home in Wilton, New Hampshire, on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 2-4 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the end of calling hours.
