Temporary ramp relocation at I-90/I-495 interchange to start Thursday

by | Oct 20, 2026 | News

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation plans to put a temporary ramp shift in place at the Interstate 90/Interstate 495 interchange in Hopkinton starting Thursday, according to a recent notice.

MassDOT will shift the exit from I-495 northbound to I-90 eastbound and westbound (Exit 58) approximately 1,000 feet north of its current location. A map of the relocation is available online. The new configuration will remain in place through December, when I-495 traffic is scheduled to be shifted out of the median, the notice states.

Crews plan to close the exit Thursday night to accommodate the shift. Work will take place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

While the closure is in place, traffic is scheduled to detour up I-495 northbound to Route 9 westbound (Exit 59B). Drivers will reverse direction back to I-495 southbound to access I-90 from there.

Appropriate signage and law enforcement details will be in place. Drivers should anticipate delays and exercise caution while traveling through work zones.

For more information on traffic conditions, drivers can visit the Mass511 website, which features travel times and real-time traffic.
