Alexander Toloczko

Alexander Toloczko

Alexander George Toloczko (known to everyone except his family as “Al”), 32, of Upton and formerly of Hopkinton, passed away on June 22, 2026. Born in Newton, Al was the son of Linda Ouellette of Upton and Mitchell Toloczko of Hopkinton. He was a 2012 graduate of Hopkinton High School.

Al believed that weekdays in a suit and tie would be torture, so he chose a different path. His usual attire was black pants, a black T-shirt and work boots. After working in the construction industry, Al became a skilled foundryman under the tutelage of his father, Mitch, and he had recently acquired his own business. In his spare time, Al developed a love and a knack for 3D printing, which he hoped to parlay into a second business. He delighted in handing out his latest 3D creations to his friends and family.

Al enjoyed spending time at the Woodville Rod & Gun Club. His needs were simple. Much to his mother’s chagrin, he dreamed of living off the grid in Alaska, without electricity or running water.

Al was the family’s Wikipedia. At the mere mention of even the most obscure topic, he would regale his audience with a host of detailed information (and he was almost always right). He loved music, and his tastes were eclectic, including folk, heavy metal, country and the Beatles. Al was a kind soul with a good heart. He loved the dogs that graced his life over the years, including Molly (his first dog), Rebel, Henry, Cupid, Neptune and his beloved Chubby.

Al was the cherished grandchild of his maternal grandparents (“Grammy and Grampy”). They believed the sun rose and set on Al, his sister and their cousin, Hope. Al could sit for hours listening to Grampy’s stories about his service in the Navy during World War II, and he was proud to be Grampy’s namesake. He loved spending time at his grandparents’ pool during summer weekends, and he was the apple of Grammy’s eye. They shared a love of Cheez Doodles, and Al never left her house without a secret stash, although their orange fingers were always a dead giveaway.

Al adored his sister, Lauren, who passed away four years ago. They were true “partners in crime.” Although she was two years his senior, Al was more of a big brother to Lauren than a younger sibling. He was her confidant and her protector, and he carried her loss in his heart to the end.

In addition to his parents, Al is survived by his aunts, Susan and Karen Ouellette, and Sandi Wallace; his cousin, Hope Ouellette; his brother-in-law, Christopher Rodriguez; and his fur babies, Cupid and Neptune. Al is predeceased by his sister, Lauren Toloczko-Rodriguez; his uncles, George S. Ouellette and Steven Toloczko; his grandparents, Sally and George J. Ouellette, and Catherine and Mitchell Toloczko Sr., and his much-loved nanny, Connie Pineo.

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 28, from 4-7 p.m. at Chesmore Funeral Home in Hopkinton. A celebration of life service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at Saint Michael’s Episcopal Church in Holliston, followed by interment of ashes in the Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Al’s memory to Baypath Humane Society.

Obituaries are submissions, typically from funeral homes, that are not subject to the same level of editorial oversight as the rest of the Hopkinton Independent. Obituaries may be edited for grammatical and factual mistakes and clarifications and shortened for space considerations.

Very sorry to hear this. Condolences to Al’s family. Al was in my 7th grade Home Room with Mr. Kearny. He was kind, curious, passionate about his interests, and intelligent. My friend John and I had some great laughs with Al that year. He will be missed!
