Appropriation Committee to hold public hearing on town budget April 13

by | Apr 1, 2022 |

The Town of Hopkinton Appropriation Committee will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, April 13, at 6 p.m. via Zoom to discuss the draft of the fiscal year 2023 budget, which will be considered at the May 2 Annual Town Meeting.

Information on how to join the meeting is available at the town’s website.

According to a press release from the town, the proposed budget calls for $103.7 million in general government spending, including the Hopkinton Public Schools, and $4.9 million in spending in the town’s water and sewer enterprises. Capital spending proposed for the general government, water, sewer and Community Preservation Act projects totals $7.9 million.

The tax impact from this budget proposal on existing homeowners would average 2.1 percent above this year’s tax bills. As an example, the typical home in Hopkinton has an assessed value of $681,100 and a 2022 tax bill of $11,599. If all actions in the proposed budget for FY 2023 are approved, taxes on that average house would rise by about $241.

More details on the budget can be found at the town’s website. A hard copy of the draft budget package can be obtained from the Treasurer Collector’s Office on the ground floor of Town Hall (18 Main Street). Residents can email toleary@hopkintonma.gov or call 508-497-9715 with questions.
