Beth Gismondi began studying art at an early age, later taking on art history as part of her undergraduate studies and earning a master’s in art education from Harvard. She also holds a certificate in children’s book illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. Today, she is focused on drawing and oil painting as an instructor for the Hopkinton Center for the Arts. “I love getting into that flow state when you’re just immersed in the art and not thinking about anything else because you’re so highly focused on the creation of something,” said Gismondi. She added that she finds teaching rewarding because it allows her to do meaningful art while continuing to work on her own practice.
The Arts Residency, sponsored by realtor Alan Connell, is a regular Hopkinton Independent feature. Every other week, Hopkinton Independent staff selects an individual to highlight following consultation with leaders in the local arts community.
