Artwork submissions sought for Art on the Trail display in October

by | Jul 22, 2021 | Featured

UPDATE, Aug. 11: The Hopkinton Cultural Council extended the deadline for submissions to Aug. 18.

The Hopkinton Cultural Council is inviting artists to submit work for display as part of 2021 Art on the Trail.

The program will run from Oct. 7-17 (setup is from Oct. 4-7) on the mile-long Center Trail, which starts on Main Street, across from Hopkinton Lumber.

This is an open call to artists from all genres in Hopkinton and the surrounding areas for the creation of original artworks in all visual mediums. The theme is “Walk to Inspire — Dedication and Celebration of the 125th Boston Marathon.” Work may include inspiration from Boston Marathon legends such as Team Hoyt. The marathon will be held Oct. 11 this year.

Space available for each piece is 3 feet deep by 8 feet wide. The art may be freestanding or suspended from a tree branch with fishing line (no nails in the trees). The artwork will be displayed outside and exposed to the elements.

Submissions are due by Aug. 15 and must include a $25 entry fee. Artists whose work is not selected will be refunded the entry fee.
