Brian Tran, longtime manager of Christine’s Nails in Hopkinton, recently became the salon’s new owner.
Christine’s Nails has been serving Hopkinton residents since 2012 and now has a new owner. Longtime manager Brian Tran purchased the business last May. Tran has worked in the nail salon industry for 21 years and has managed Christine’s since 2014.
Christine’s offers manicures, pedicures and more than 100 polish colors. Product quality is very important to Tran. He prefers brands such as OPI gel and traditional nail polish, SNS Nails dip powders and Dazzle Dry, a quick-drying polish that has become very popular with clients. He stays away from products with potentially harmful chemicals and strong odors.
“We focus on non-toxic products only,” said Tran. “No chemical smells, just beautiful nails. That is my motto.”
Tran noted the growing popularity of dip powders for manicures and often recommends them to clients who typically use acrylic or similar odorous products. According to the SNS Nails website, dip powders are a healthy alternative to acrylic products and do not contain certain chemicals commonly found in other nail products.
“If you have brittle nails, dip powder can help make your nails grow healthier and stronger,” said Tran.
Christine’s services clients of all ages, though most are adults. Tran noted that over the past few years, men have become frequent customers and often come in for pedicures and routine toenail care. He recommends monthly pedicures to all adult clients for toenail maintenance and noted a massage is part of every pedicure.
Tran’s staff has been with Christine’s for many years. The team stays current with the latest industry trends by visiting suppliers to learn about new products and techniques. He has done some remodeling to Christine’s to give it a fresh look, and cleanliness remains a key focus for all staff.
“Cleanliness is very important to me,” said Tran. “We sanitize all tools and pedicure tubs after each client. I clean the salon myself every day.”
Tran is eager to support the Hopkinton community and often provides salon gift cards to local organizations and events. Recent groups sponsored by the salon include Hopkinton Scouting for Food, the Hopkinton High School golf team, Hopkinton Ashland Youth Cheer and the Marathon Quilters Guild.
“We support all kinds of organizations in Hopkinton,” said Tran. “It is very important to me, and we are always happy to say yes.”
Tran immigrated to the United States from Vietnam in 1995 at age 16 and graduated from Lawrence High School and Salem State University. He speaks highly of Hopkinton and his clients, many of whom regularly visit the salon since it first opened.
“I would like to thank the Hopkinton community for giving me this opportunity and supporting me these last 12 years,” said Tran. “I am always appreciative and very grateful every day.”
Located at 22 South Street, Suite 107, the salon is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Appointments can be booked by calling 508-435-0222, and walk-ins are welcome.
