A vehicle rolled over Thursday morning in the area of 238 Wood Street, descending more than 10 feet down an embankment and landing upside down, according to a report on X and confirmation by emergency responders.
HFD Lt. Scott Jurasek, in a phone interview with the Independent Thursday afternoon, described the scene, which occurred near Fire Station 2.
“We got a call at 9:47 a.m. about a motor vehicle accident where a vehicle rolled down an embankment,” he said. “Police arrived at the scene first.”
Hopkinton Deputy Police Chief Scott van Raalten confirmed via email that “when officers arrived on scene, the operator and sole occupant was out the vehicle. She sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.”
“There was no indication as to why it happened,” Jurasek continued. “The car dropped about 10-12 feet and landed upside down.”
He added that the female driver, whose name was not released, “was out of the vehicle when we arrived on the scene and talking to police officers.” She was transported to a local hospital for further assessment, Jurasek noted, and the HFD ambulance crew was on the scene to assist her.
There were “no other hazards and no fluid leaks at the scene,” Jurasek said. Art’s Towing of Milford towed away the vehicle, Jurasek said. Wood Street was reopened to traffic “around noontime,” according to van Raalten.
Van Raalten added that the crash is “still under investigation, and no cause has been determined. ”
Jurasek said he was thankful the driver “appeared to be OK,” particularly because of the holiday season.
“She was very, very lucky,” he said. “She was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Because she was walking around, I feel very comfortable in saying that she will be all right.”
