A portion of Chamberlain Street will be closed on Thursday for roadwork, according to the Department of Public Works.
In a notice to residents, DPW Director Kerry Reed noted that crews would be working to install a speed hump across both lanes of travel near 35 Chamberlain Street. Work hours for the installation are 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
“This work is being done at the direction of the Planning Board as part of traffic mitigation for the new subdivision constructed at the end of the street,” Reed stated, adding that the DPW normally does not install speed humps on public roads.
During the scheduled work hours, traffic details will be in place at 49 Chamberlain Street and Angelo Drive. Emergency access gates between Chamberlain Street and Whalen Road will remain open for local traffic only for use as an alternate route.
