The Department of Public Works announced that J.H. Lynch & Sons will be out on Hayden Rowe Street starting Monday to complete road work.

According to a notice sent by the DPW, crews conducted paving on Monday between 136-149 Hayden Rowe Street northbound and southbound. Paving work was scheduled between 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Access to and from driveways in this area was limited, and residents needing access to their vehicles were advised to park on Chamberlain Street. Eastbound traffic on Chamberlain was detoured via Angelo Drive, Colella Farm Road, Nicholas Road and Teresa Road back to Hayden Rowe Street for the duration of paving.

Crews will be back in the area Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. for temporary striping. Temporary lane closures throughout the day are anticipated.

The DPW notice also informed residents that guardrail installation is planned for next week and may include fence work at 137 and 149 Hayden Rowe Street.

An asphalt curb adjacent to the northbound drive lane is temporary, according to the notice. It reportedly is intended to accommodate paving due to the utilities “not completing their line relocations and pole removals before the start of school as intended,” the notice states. Temporary curb cuts are set to be removed for the completion of paving and striping next spring.

The paving work on Hayden Rowe Street was deemed necessary after utility delays prevented the removal of existing poles that obstruct the final roadway and prohibit its completion. The work, which is associated with the Charleswood School project, was discussed at an Elementary School Building Committee meeting on Sept. 16. It will restore the existing plowable road surface and give the utility companies additional time to complete their work.
