Daniel Mulcahy

Daniel Jude Mulcahy, 62, of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Dec. 14. He was the husband of Darlene Allessio Mulcahy, formerly of Hopkinton.

Daniel was born on June 4, 1961, to the late Thomas G. Mulcahy and Mary Ann Messitt. He loved music and had a passion for playing the electric bass. He also was the founder of the Shamrocks Motorcycle Club. Daniel was known for his love of entertaining and making people laugh and will be deeply missed. He wants everyone to remember the good times together.

Dan was proud to serve his country and did so in a few ways. He served in the Marines in the early 1980s and the Coast Guard in the late ’80s. While stationed at the Coast Guard base in Nantucket, he met his wife, Darlene (Allessio). He then left military life and began a lifelong career with the government specializing in immigration, customs and homeland security. He happily retired in January 2021.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Mulcahy; daughters Shannon (Jay) of Evanston, Illinois, Keira of Summerville, South Carolina, and Megan (Logan) of Colchester, Vermont; and sister Maureen Mulcahy of Cohoes, New York.

He will be greatly missed by the Allessio family: Hank, Judi and his “Bro” Paul; also, Suzanne Allessio Senesac of Colchester, Vermont, and nephews Joshua, David and Michael.

Arrangements are being handled by Parks Funeral Home, 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville, South Carolina 29483.

Obituaries are submissions, typically from funeral homes, that are not subject to the same level of editorial oversight as the rest of the Hopkinton Independent. Obituaries may be edited for grammatical and factual mistakes and clarifications and shortened for space considerations.
